Gabe Pope
Shift Leader
Gabe was born and raised in Carson City, Nevada where he grew up around wild mustangs living on the surrounding BLM land. He joined the Army at the age of 17 and was stationed at Fort Myer, Virginia from November 2017- December 2024. Gabe spent four and a half years as a Military Police Officer before moving over to the Caisson Platoon (now Detachment) where he spent his remaining three and a half years transporting our fallen service members to their final resting place in Arlington National Cemetery by a horse drawn military caisson.
While working with the horses in Caisson, Gabe was exposed to many different riding disciplines, horse temperaments, and breeds. This helped make him a very well-rounded horseman in a short amount of time. His experience allowed him to become an instructor for his final year and a half, training soldiers of varying equine experience how to ride. It was also here that he found his true love of horses and experienced the profound, life-changing impact they can have.
After retiring from the Army, Gabe wanted to continue to work with horses. He chose to volunteer his time to equine therapy and specifically wanted to help fellow veterans through the power of horses. Cloverleaf stood out as the only program in the area that worked with veterans and he started volunteering in 2025. He then was hired as a Shift Lead in November 2025.
During his free time, Gabe likes to still help the Caisson Detachment through their Association, continue to enhance and further his horsemanship skills and knowledge, and learn more about the history and equipment of 19th Century military horsemanship.
